catgate
Jenson Button has just gone fast enough. :DSo has his Bank account. In the upward direction. :DSo has Bernie's.I am rapidly coming to the realisation that F1 is not now motor racing, but an automotive spectacular designed for the sole purpose of generating vast amounts of income. The money aspect of it has become obscene and totally out of proportion.

The money aspect of it has become obscene and totally out of proportion. It's always been about that. The teams get Millions of Pounds from sponsors as a tax write-off. That is what worried them initially about tobacco advertising being stopped. They used to get millions off the Imperial Tobacco Group to advertise different brands. Also Snooker was worried at the same time when they had to stop the Embassy World Tournament, they knew they were going to lose millions from the advertising. AlanHo
There is nothing special about F1 regarding sponsorship - money pours into football, snooker, cricket and other sports - I would not be surprised to learn that andsome is sponsored by the Tory party in return for the publicity he gives them and his regular playing with his bowls. andsome
I really wish I was good enough to get sponsor money for playing bowls. My record so far this season for Sunday mornings is played three and won one, with one very narrow loss of 20-21. Tuesday evening I have played 3 and won two. Thursday afternoon does not start for another week yet.I started many years ago to give money to Labour, then became disillusioned and gave to the Liberals instead. I flirted with the Tories for a year or two, now I keep my money to myself. :D
