Midges weren't a bother then.We'll be going 2nd and 3rd week this time. To the Aberdeenshire area.When do the pests start showing themselves? Gandalph Posted May 17, 2009 Report Share Posted May 17, 2009 Same answer really Artist. If it's a warm September they can strike. It depends on what part of Aberdeenshire you are going to. If it's the Cairngorms you could be plagued by them, and believe me when I say plagued I mean it. Just remember to take plenty of repellent with you and always stick it in your pocket when you are out and about. Anything containing Citronella will do the trick.
