casey
A friend is after a music & video player to take with him on holiday. He has found one that will do what he wants but it will only charge from a computer USB port. A thought occurred to me that perhaps if he had a powered USB hub would it charge from that ?. He doesn't have a computer & he also needs a line input.
doug
I think you can get mobile phone chargers with the mini USB plug. Mine is from Motorola using 100 - 240v AC supply with output rating of 5v and ~0.5A DC. My card reader has 4 USB sockets and powered from my PC USB socket. So depending on what his mp3 player requires there must be a combination to suit his needs.
Hb_Kai
Alternatively, you can buy a charger.

Hb_Kai
Yeah man, they do chargers in a lot of places. If your friend is going on holiday to somewhere where they have those funny plug sockets and not the proper ones then you can buy a jack or whatever they're called for them somewhere, probably in the same shop as the charger.Instead of saying something which may point you in the right direction I thought I may as well show you too. Here's a Google search for USB MP3 Player chargers:USB MP3 Player ChargersSince you mentioned he wants to watch videos with it and has one that does this, I think this would be more like an MP4 player so here's another Google search. But before buying one, you should check compatibility options and even check the website of the manufacturer for chargers instead. These are just to show you that they are out there.USB MP4 Player ChargersThey can either be bought to be charged from laptops, computers or from wall sockets.
