Dencandy Posted August 4, 2009 Report Share Posted August 4, 2009 Most email providers now store everything on their servers, so just re-connect to your email account (or re-install the email client service) and use Synchronise to copy everything back to your computer. That may take a long time if you have a lot of stored emails. You may have to research a bit into how to do this depending on the email provider.Even so, as others have said, it's best to also make your own back-ups to external media. One of my friends Googlemail account password got corrupted last year and it was a right palaver getting his contacts list and messages back again. Despite this "fright" and me nagging him - he still soldiers on without doing any back-ups.It is because of the extra work required to back up web based Email systems (such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Googlemail etc) that I always use Outlook for my Blueyonder Email. It's easy to use and data like messages, calendar, contacts etc - being stored on my computer - can easily be backed up using a number of proprietary programs. I back up my whole systems on a regular basis.Backing up should be the norm, not the exception. I've known so many people in despair following a loss of data - often with irreplaceable information such as college/university work by just not bothering to backup or making a copy.There are several threads on here dedicated to backing up. I recommend you look at them and act quickly before the inevitable happens.Too many people have the impression "it won't happen to me". Well, it can and it will, one day.
