When it is already open however, I cannot see where to click to check for new messages which may be waiting on the server. AlanHo Posted September 5, 2009 Report Share Posted September 5, 2009 There isn't a button so far as I know.Each day when I open Livemail it opens to my inbox and shows all received messages.If you have Livemail open for a while and want to check whether your fans have sent more adoring mail - then just click on another folder - say "Drafts" and click back on "Inbox". To date without clicking another folder new mail will only come in when i reopen the program. This definitely an omission as far as I am concerned. I now have options set to look for new messages every five minutes, and while typing this i have just heard one arrive. There was a time, when the world was much younger, people answered their emails usually within the hour. Now if you get an answer in a week it is something of a special event.I think a new way needs devising, where the email transmogrifies into a bull terrier after about ten minutes, and then goes for the recipients tasty bits. What annoyed me about it was that when I launched it instead of opening in the Inbox it opened in the last folder that I had used in the previous session. A time-wasting irritation that made me realise that I didn't really need it. So I uninstalled it and by chance was left with just the Windows Live Sign In Assistant. That works fine and instantly takes me to my Hotmail account without any of the MSN adverts and other Live Mail bumph. It takes up 1.93MBs but I think only works with Hotmail. You get an icon which appears on either the lower right hand side corner or upper right hand side corner of your screen to alert you when you receive new emails, just like when someone comes online - problem with this method is you have to always be signed in.
