Hb_Kai Posted September 18, 2009 Report Share Posted September 18, 2009 Usually I'm not one for reading about politicians in newspapers but, when I do read newspapers at all, I'll read The Sun because I like their opinions and the way they publish things and lately, I have been trying to read about our beloved, greed-fuelled PM, Mr. Gordon Brown.I found this article on The Sun's website:I'll cut cut cut cut cutOne of the lines that interested me mostly in this article was ...Labour members were at each others' throats even though the PM stressed he won't make cuts until AFTER the election - if he wins.This man is brave. As I've been reading lately his reputation has been falling deeply and quickly and how he is able to stand up and say something like this is stupid for him, in my most humble opinion.I do not wish to spark a war on this forum about who is best to run the country or anything but I just thought of posting to see others opinions about this guy.But personally, I'd like to stick a picture of this guy's face up on my wall to use as a dart board. B'liar was bad, but El Gordo has managed to surpass even him. Politicians have always lied, and done U turns whilst at the same time denying it, but he has it off to a fine art. Actually I feel sorry for Alistair Darling as he has inherited the Treasury after Gordon Brown's been there with his profligate spending and borrowing. Until recently when the PM threatened to sack him, he has stood up for himself by contradicting Gordon Brown in the press. Hb_Kai Posted September 18, 2009 Author Report Share Posted September 18, 2009 I'm actually glad to see similar thoughts to my own as that means I do understand this topic properly. :) At first I didn't think so as it's a whole new thing to me which I have tried to ignore in the past as reading or hearing on the news about this stuff just bored me.My question on cuts to Mr Brown is: If you are going to cut this "unecessary" and "inefficient" expenditure after the next election, why did you introduce it in the first place?I doubt they realised it was going to become a problem in the near future.I don't know if they are related but there are big changes being made to the jobcentre and the way they are turning down their work-based benefits. (Jobseeker's Allowance, Income Support and Incapacity Benefit). Oh. And the other types of financial support the government/councils used to offer. Hb_Kai Posted September 18, 2009 Author Report Share Posted September 18, 2009 It's about time that the workshy were weeded out from the victims of this recession who have been made redundant through no fault of their own.The same applies to the sick, we need to weed out the workshy here as well.We need to cut our welfare bill which is massive and rising every year!I'd like to add to that though that some of us are not workshy but incapable of being employed within a small town with thousands of jobseeker's because we don't have the required qualifications.And to do that, we would have to move on to Income Support whilst studying to gain those qualifications.I'm not being rude to you when I say that as I doubt you are directing that at me, I just wanted to state it before anybody thought it.So from that, some of the claimants are genuinely wanting to come off claiming the money - however, the vast majority of them claim for the benefit of an easy life - they are the ones that need to be weeded out. p.s. one thing that I'm pleased about is that the governments ID card scheme is to be shelved to save money :DI haven't read much about this subject so I don't know what it is all about: Am I right in thinking that ID cards will no longer be required for things as the service is going to be scrapped?I doubt it is that as ID cards are intended to stop the underaged buying alcohol, cigarettes, solvents, even spray cans of tile paint from Wilkinsons...
