Change Button Function

hi,

ive got this button on my laptop which starts the default Media Center application. [lets call that button, the Media Center Button]

At first that "default Media Center app" was Acer Arcade Deluxe, but after uninstalling that one, it became Windows Media Center.

And I was wondering if i could do one of the following things:

1-Change the function of the Media Center Button, so it starts any program i want [for example notepad.exe]

or

2-Somehow make Notepad the default Media Center app [in other words: making windows believe notepad is the new default Media Center app]

If you know anything about this, please let me know!

Thanks in advance

btw: if you need more info, just ask :)

Since this does not seem to be a standard keyboard, check out the keyboard properties if you can assign any functions to these buttons.

i already had a look at that, and strangely enough, it allows me to customize all the special keys, but not that one XD

before you ask: why not change the other ones? well, because i sometimes press the Media Center button by accident :S so if it will start Notepad, it wouldnt matter much :)

The majority of the time, you should consider yourself very lucky to receive a reply from manufacturer's such as this within a week.

If there is no keyboard property for it, then you may have to put up with being the media center button. One thing you could do though is, if you don't have it installed already, download and install the client software, from the same people who makes the drivers, updates for the drivers and whatever else it is that they make. The client software may include other options that aren't already available to you.

I have had to do this a few times just to get one option available to me.

i just checked for the most recent version, and there was a more recent version, so i downloaded it

but it still didnt give me the option to change the Media Center button...

though another button appeared, which i have never seen before...

here are the buttons i have:

launchbuttons.png and the special eButton launchbutton.png

and this is what the program shows: [note: i already changed the associations :P]

launchmanager.png

So... the buttons which are missing in the program are:

Media Center Button

Wireless LAN button [makes sense, and doesnt matter]

Bluetooth Button [makes sense, and doesnt matter]

and the buttons missing on my notebook, according to the program is:

-the P button [which i associated with "Kladblok"]

it is shown in the program, but i havent got any key which even looks like it, on my notebook...

if you want to look for yourself, go ahead: here is a high res image of my laptop: http://www.laptopshop.nl/images/product/82...g-654g100mn.jpg

who?

The owners of the place you were hosting that picture.

Key 14, eManager; does that have anything to do with that "special-e"?

Make a copy of this file and put it on your desktop, remove the key 14 line from the original and press CTRL + S to save it, then try clicking the the media center button and see if it doesn't work anymore. If it does, replace the original file with the copy you made on your desktop by copying and pasting the copy to the program files folder and try again with key 32, sync center. I doubt it would be this but it could be worth a shot. Again, if that one doesn't work, replace it with the copy you have on your desktop so that all the button functions go back to how they were to start of with.

unfortunatly changeing those values had no effect

to make sure it was effective, i removed values from keys i know, but no changes...

damnit, we were so close...

i also looked in the registry, and found nothing :S

and... i also found another map [Dritek Launch Manager Mammoth] but it had the same files in it :S

but thanks for all the great help, i really appreciate it!

and i also contacted Acer about it, but still didnt get any reply yet...

ive seen that one yes, but it isnt the button that starts the Windows Media Center... as you would look to my images, you will see that that button is missing in the button customization program... :S
