-pops-
These tales abound amongst flight crew. One I heard last week from my "son-in-law" (a pilot) was a rat that was seen on his flight from Australia. I was first seen by one of the cabin crew sitting on the lap of a sleeping (male) passenger. She went to the galley to tell other members of crew and decide what to do about it without alerting other passengers. Another member of cabin crew went to the seat and noticed the rat wasn't there. A discreet look around showed the rat was now sitting on the passenger's foot. The steward returned to the galley and it was decided they would have to inform the pilot. This done, the pilot came down to check things out. No trace of a rat but the sleeping passenger who was previously bald now had a full head of hair. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Cabin crew probably have lots of interesting stories to tell, but so do passengers. I am not exactly a frequent flier, but I had my share of interesting experiences on board. Probably one of my top stories:On April 26, 1986 I flew from Bangkok to Zurich by Thai Airways. At the scheduled stopover at Copenhagen, our plane was left standing on the tarmac for several hours. No reason was given, and the cabin crew started serving drinks and showed a movie. After about 5 hours (during which some passengers became very unruly), buses approached, and the passengers were allowed off the plane. After this, passengers were distributed onto various other flights to their European destinations. It was only days later that it dawned on me that we must have flown directly over Chernobyl when the nuclear disaster happened, and that the authorities at Copenhagen simply didn't know what to do with us...
