ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted November 11, 2009 Report Share Posted November 11, 2009 I have two Dell laptops running Windows 7 Home Premium x64 on 64-bit Intel chips and none of them have problems with the Flash player on 64-bit browsers. This was an issue some time ago which has now been fixed.That is an interesting comment, as over at the Adobe forums there is a constant barrage or 64-bit users complaining that Flash Player does not run on their systems.Since all my computers are a bit old, I have no way of testing this myself. Also there are still many applications that are only available in 32bit. If you want/need Flash Player for example, there is only a 32bit version, and it can only run on a 32bit browser.So, if you do not professionally need 64bit, stay with 32bit!P.S. remember, some 10 years ago we were all still on 16bit (Windows 9x).True but there are other advantages to using 64 bit and that is the Hardware Execution Prevention feature (hardware based) not to mention being able to use more than 4 GB of RAM. Scarecrow Man Posted November 17, 2009 Report Share Posted November 17, 2009 A little story a friend in the 'biz' told me about Windows 7...A couple people were working on something called 'Windows Silver' but did not have the money to release it. Microsoft got their hands on it, did a few modifications and decided to release its new version of Windows to the Public. They called it Windows Vista. It had quite a few problems, but the one feature that worked so well was the "Send this to Microsoft" popup you would see when something happened that wasn't supposed to happen. Well, Microsoft used all the data gathered by this and poured it into a new version of Windows, they called Windows 7. Once the amount of reports slowed down, and they stopped getting new errors, they put a little R&D into it to polish it off and released to to the public. Windows 7 is Windows Vista without all the bugs and annoyances. We were used as guinea pigs and instead of spending millions on R&D Microsoft went to the people to get their opinions. Some people may feel used, but all I can say is - you're welcome :)--Please note the above is a story; rumor if you will. It's in no way fact or fiction, but I do believe my sources and regardless it's quite an interesting story either way.Back on topic...... Windows 7 is wonderful. Seshomaru Samma Posted November 18, 2009 Report Share Posted November 18, 2009 I would say "maybe"I know some people like to have the latest gadgets (myself included)and some people are interested in technology (myself included) - for these people I would recommend Win7. But for someone who just wants to surf the net, listen to music , write some documents etc, I'm not sure if Win7 is worth it. For someone like that I would recommend not upgrading/switching.
