AlanHo Posted November 18, 2009 Report Share Posted November 18, 2009 OK - I'm slow on the uptake and this may have been mentioned before - if so please humour me - but I have just noticed a "Donate" tab at the top of the Forum page.It's obviously a good idea to pursue all avenues to cover the costs of running the Forum - but how does this feature relate to "Subscribe". If someone donates - do they then enjoy the benefits afforded to us subscribers - if not - would they not be better to subscribe rather than donate.I'm not sure what the plans are here - just curious - I will continue to subscribe anyway............ If you think WF is worth a bit more, you can make a donation as well as (or instead of) a subscription.It was me who suggested a "Donation" tab as there is a quirk in the way that the board functions in that when a mod subscribes afresh, their mod status disappears (or something like that). It was a pleasure to watch them playing about in the gardens and hedgerows, frisking and gambling, pausing only to sit up and lick their fur clean after falling in a heap of some thing deposited by another quirk.Yet they are becoming more sinister as time goes on. Previously, there was no easy way of doing this. Although it is possible, I doubt that many would want to donate without having a prior subscription. catgate Posted November 18, 2009 Report Share Posted November 18, 2009 The point is that mods are, or were, unable to subscribe without losing their moderating privileges.In my simple view of the world I would have thought that, taking into account the amount of time and effort put in by the mods., to expect them to subscribe or donate was expecting too much, and the question of monetary contribution from them was a little bit over the top. Irene Posted December 19, 2009 Report Share Posted December 19, 2009 I became a subscriber because I thought that the members/subscribers of WF had provided me with a wider scope of FOC advice and guidance than I had been able to gain elsewhere (including locally).In one particularly stressful year, WF provided more personal relief that I can begin to describe. When my subscription renewal became due, I added a modest additional amount in gratitude. At that time there was no facility for this donation. I would have welcomed the donation link then, and may well do so in the future.WF is both informative and social - I appreciate both aspects.
