artist
Did you get a Windows backup disk/recovery disk or have you made a recovery disk yet (if that is what you have to do with PB computers)?Ensure you have a note of the Product Key. I noticed that they (MS) don't supply those metallised labels that stick on the computer case with W7.When I get it set up I'll be checking everything - will no doubt be very active on here....... :D (Hamsters haven't gone yet - the paraphanalia for the three are in my 'computer' room)

andsome
Aha, hope that's the 64 bit 732 bit in my case. I have only recently realised from SIW that my computer is capable of running 64 bit, but I don't really know if I would get any personal advantage, I am perfectly happy with things as they are. :D
doug
Bit worrried about this as I'm tempted to go for the 64 bit version. The more I read the more I find my present apps may have problems. Think I'll start a new thread on this.
artist
Having almost finished with setting up - the cd drawer won't work!Had chat with tech bloke - tried all sorts - it will not work using the manual button. Got to take the tower back tomorrow for a replacement - NOT a good start. The wireless set up went like a dream. Just have to put on the laptop - Oh no, It's all got to be done again on the new sytem tomorrow!!No problems with the printer either.I'm missing OE already. Does everyone use Windows Live with W7?? Is there something else?
doug
I'm hoping M$ Outlook in Office 2003 is going to work. I've been using it for the last couple of days and have sort of got the hang of it.

As mine booted up, the cd drawer opened! ;)

artist
re the non opening cd drawer - we got the replacement tower this morning. I used the cd drawer twice - then it wouldn't work again. I was getting in a strop about it! Rang PCworld - took the tower back again. Chap said they have had this problem occasionally. After much chat and 'looking up' stuff, he suddenly noticed that all of us had been using the wrong button to open the drawer. The button we used - which HAD opened and closed the thing was in fact to release the photocards - the right one is on the side of the tower. This is not shown at all on the directions.....Red faces all round..All set up now.Have to play a bit with it now. :D
