Thought for today - 6 December

I once thought I had a handle on the meaning of the word "service". "The act of doing things for other people."

Then I heard the terms such as "Police Service," "Postal Service," "Civil Service," Legal Service," "Car Service," "Motorway Service Station." etc and I became confused about the word "service." This is not what I thought "service" meant.

One day, I overheard two farmers talking and one of them mentioned that he was having a bull "service" a few of his cows. It all came into perspective.

At least you two have rendered a service by reminding me of the correct date. When i got up this morning I thought it was Sunday - it's a problem when you are retired and every day is like a week-end isn't it old fellas and gals?

If it were not for the fact my watch shows the day and date I would probabley forget which day it is as well Alan.

My watch also shows the day and date - but I have to remember to index the date an extra day when we have a 30 day month - like November. I have already let you know what my memory is like (or have I.................?).

Regarding holidays - I am now regretting choosing to be an atheist rather than Christian or Muslim. Us lot don't get nearly as many holidays.
