doug Posted December 15, 2009 Report Share Posted December 15, 2009 Having used Outlook Express for many years and having upgraded to Windows 7 I'm looking for an e-mail client with the look and feel of OE. Have tried using thunderbird on Win XP but cannot get it to work the same way in Win 7. for example I'm used to receiving mail and it stays in my inbox folder. this I can'y get to happen in thunderbird. Every new message overwrites the previous one. I often go back refer back to my old messages by sortind by name/date etc. Thunderbird was working this was in XP but I cannot get the version in Win 7 to work that way. Searching has not produce any answers. So for the moment I'm using Googlemail but I would like to keep my messages on my HDD. Test messages sent are stored in my sent folder. If you run a search on "email clints + Windows 7" you will get some personal recommendations.Personally I no longer use an email client as I found it too confusing working out how to reply and which "persona" I was responding from. I find Windows Live the easiest free email to use, after taking out all the extras I'm not interested in. Also it's the only one I know that has an automatic vacation reply that can be switched on or off. Handy with my constant coming and going. The only thing that puzzled me at first was that they come in when you open the program, but I could not see at first how to bring more in later. It is by clicking a button marked Sync.
