Craig Posted December 29, 2009 Report Share Posted December 29, 2009 Good afternoon everyone,I believe there is a great deal of respect for one another within this community, and if you didn't care about the forum, you probably wouldn't take the time to make your thoughts known. With this in mind, I've read various comments over the past few days, the majority are constructive criticism, some are praise, and others appear to be a slight dig at no one in particular. Regarding the latter, moderators and admins will not remove or censor posts in anyway unless reported as we believe this will go against what we have worked for, an open and honest forum. So please keep in mind what you post may be taken personally and potentially upset members.With the above aside, we are in the middle of a change here at the forum. The major change is already complete, the upgrade to the latest version of the forum software; this needed to take place to bring us up to date with the latest security fixes. With the update came an issue all of us are aware of, the GUI.At the moment the Christmas skin 'Frosty' is the default skin, all members and guest visiting the forum will see this, unless as a member you have changed to IPB. The Christmas skin is only for the festive period, so any issues with this skin are only temporary. The IPB skin is a default skin shipped with the forum, again this is a temporary skin and will be the default skin for a short period of time after the Christmas skin has been taken down. With this in mind, some work will be done to brand it as Windows Forum, however not a great deal as I plan to have a Windows Forum skin in operation soon.Beyond the GUI, other changes are in progress, one of which is a forum shake up. We're smack bang in the middle of deleting, consolidating and creating forums. We haven't made any adjustments for several years now, certain categories do not attract as much interest as they once did, while others need fine tuning.Believe me, there is a lot of work being carried out. We're aiming to get it right first time, but inevitably we'll get something wrong so please standby us while we correct the mistakes. Unlike larger forums, we don't have the time or resources to develop and test changes prior to rolling them out, however we do plan, but changes happen on an adhoc basis.In brief, I'm personally striving to bring this site up to date and attract new members, it's going to take a little time, changes won't happen overnight, but I'm hoping the end result will see the forum have a new lease of life.
