Asylum Seekers in the UK

I'm not sure whether to believe this story from a Sri Lankan blog or not.

In a nutshell, it's claimed that Kudu Lal,a notorious Sri Lankan wanted criminal (hitman and drug dealer), is seeking asylum in the UK because, as a criminal kingpin in Sri Lanka, he may get bumped off by the police if he returns to Sri Lanka.

Do you think the UK government is likely to give him asylum?

Nothing surprises me about our Government any more. If they do give him asylum they might as well take in the Mafia members that will undoubtedly think that they will be given the same status because they are wanted in other Countries.

There is an election coming up and Labour are bankrupt....both morally and financially.

He is a criminal so he would fit in with them, and they would bend over backward for a donation to party funds (many of them would also bend over forward if they thought he would fit in).

That having been said, he could just wait for a couple of weeks and then, when all the government employed people are out on strike, he should just be able to walk in unhindered (if there are any planes and trains running).

Much too true to be remotely funny.

Now it gets even more bizarre. According to this report in the Sri Lankan Daily Mirror, being a member of a the Tamil Tigers terrorist group doesn't stop a person from applying for political asylum in the UK: http://www.dailymirror.lk/index.php/news/2455-tigers-can-seek-uk-asylum.html.

Expect Osama bin-Laden to turn up at Dover any day now!

With our lax rules and regulations he probably has already done so.
