A busy day

I have been busy all day today catching up on outstanding jobs. First to assemble a pile of old stuff to take down to the tip later this evening, then to repair a wobbly leg on an old bureau my wife inherited from her mother. I offered to add it to the pile for the tip but it quickly became obvious it has sentimental value....

I had just finished mending the bureau when the rain stopped and the sun came out - which was an opportunity to mow the lawns - so I grabbed an old stetson shaped hat I keep in the garage as a sun hat - and set off to the shed to fire up the mower - still wearing my B&Q tool belt.

I had just finished the back lawn when out of nowhere the most almighty rainstorm came so I had to high tail it back into the house.

My wife took one look at me with my hat and tool belt - laughed - and said I reminded her of the lawn ranger....

Now I'm off to the tip..................

Ten minutes before we started a bowls match last night it started to tip it down. I had on a waterproof jacket and trousers, but the rain ran down the back of my neck as I leaned forward to bowl. Unfortunately, it took me some time for me to win the match, the final score was 21-15. I was absolutely soaked, and had to remove my shirt. Others with not so good waterproofs faired even worse. We won the match, but the green for the last twenty minutes or so was really unfit for play. The last two pairs on had to bowl so as to miss the pools of water. We really earned our drinks and sandwiches.
