What's under your PC workstation chair?

Here's a question for you.

What's under your PC workstation chair?

I have a office style chair; you know the type with five legs on wheels, armrest, adjustable this that and the other. The carpet under the wheels has worn to nothing.

We are redecorating the (dining) room and recarpeting too.

So the question is what protection goes between the new carpet and my chair.

The carpet people said have an extra piece of carpet, edges bound, and placed under the chair.

I am not keen on that idea coz I think it will ride and curl up.

I've found these protective mats:

Who uses these mats - our doctor has one under his chair and they make a horrid sound when you move and roll about.

Come on folks. Any bright ideas please (bearing in mind this is the dining room)

I used one of those plastic mats with the nubs that dug into the carpet for a while.it seemed to protect the carpet pretty well,although it tended to creep around under the chair after a while and I had to reposition it constantly (OCD?).

I got rid of it and found a four-legged wicker chair that is pretty comfy.It doesn't roll about however getting out of the chair once in a while hasn't harmed my exercise routine that much.:P

Come to think of it,that plastic mat was noisy as hell.

There's usually a large dog under my chair. The dog, though, is resting on a 3' x 4' wool rug. I did use a polyester rug for a while but had loads of problems with static buildup - so much so that sometimes on a dry day I could generate sparks (visible in a darkened room) from my finger tips whenever I touched any earthed metal item.

Just the carpet. And I must not move around too much cuz the carpet still looks pretty good.

I am getting spurious emails saying that recent posts have been made to this thread - and no such thing has happened.
