I don't do live massaging, etc and feel that my machine is slow enough as is. I'm trying to restict instal of what might just be bloatware for me. Also, if I upgrade to Windows 7, I will also get Live stuff and lose Windows Mail. Someone please let me know if I'm just a misinformed newby and straighten me out. andsome Posted November 19, 2010 Report Share Posted November 19, 2010 I am no expert but would say that you are very misinformed. My computer runs Windows 7 and I also use Windows Live Mail. Updates are not supplied to slow peoples computers down, they are there for a very good reason, mainly for safety. My computer runs as fast as the day I installed windows 7, and I have installed every update apart from those that do not apply to me, such as burning software updates as I don't use Windows for that, much preferring NERO. I run Diskeeper 10 set to run continuously in the background, keeping my hard drives defragmented. I use C Cleaner before close down every day, keeping everything nice and squeaky clean. It seems that installing the Windows Live update on my Vista based laptop will not add to cpu load and will replace Windows Mail with Windows Live Mail. I plan to upgrade to Windows 7 eventually. I installed the windows live updates to vista and so far it doesn't seem to have caused any issues other than using a bit of HD space.
