VERY interesting reading

I never fell for all the hype that using IE would make me insecure so I never switched from IE6 to FF. I've been following NSS Labs since they first found IE more secure in 2009 and have frequently shown that to the alternative browser fanatics/IE bashers.

Also of interest is this report: Firefox most vulnerable browser

But understand, I like Firefox! It is an excellent browser. But what many seem to forget is the user is the weakest link, not the browser of choice, the firewall or the anti-malware solution. The user must practice safe computing by keeping our systems updated, patched, blocked, and scanned, AND the user must avoid risky practices like participating in illegal filesharing, using torrents, or visiting P2P and illegal porn and gambling sites.

My usual advice on browsers is "Suck it and see" try as many as you like and use whatever suits you. 99% of the time I use Firefox because it suits me, there are still some sites that have stinky coding and don't work properly unless on IE but I can live with that. I've also got a copy of Comodo Dragon which is an enhanced chrome variant, but despite all the extensions I've stuck on it to replicate Firefox ease of use, it has yet to drag me away for any significant period of time.

There's a lot of nerdy guff written about browsers, security and speed. Very little of which has any real world significance to an everyday user.

Try them out form an opinion of your own and act on it ! If Kylo or Opera float your boat then fine go for it.

Not sure whether this is the correct forum. This is very interesting reading as far as I am concerned and vindicates my views about Fire fox etc.

Your selective as your not a Firefox fan :P

I could say the same about Internet Explorer ! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-12067295

I think you'll find that all browsers have security risks associated with them.

For me the crunch is whether the security updates are released quickly once a vulnerability is discovered.

My experience of the Mozilla Foundation is that they are pretty quick at releasing Firefox security updates, I'm not sure about Microsoft as I don't use Internet Explorer but they used to take their time but this may have changed ?
