spoovy
XP Professional SP3. I am trying to enable System Restore, which is disabled by GPO by default.According to various howtos I should be able to turn it back on in the group policy msc under Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > System Restore. See this thread for example - http://goo.gl/zkyC8My problem is that I don't have a System subheading. All I have in my console under Admin Templates is "Windows Components". There is no policy related to System Restore anywhere to be found.Any ideas anyone?? Thanks in advanceSpoov

System Restore is disabled by GPO, I am trying to re-enable it.No need to be rude, he was trying to help. From your link it looks as though you use Norton. You can't be much of a genius yourself if you use that highly invasive load of junk.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
You can download any GP template from the Microsoft website.
spoovy
Good grief.I don't use Norton actually, nor am I a genius. Anything else to add? Here's an idea - if you can't contribute, don't. I don't have the time or inclination to squabble with complete strangers on web forums.@ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb - So are subheadings a part of the templates themselves? I think I have some templates already on the system I will try to load one and see what happens. Cheers.
spoovy
Sorted. the answer was to right click on "Administrative Templates" then click "Add" then locate "system.adm" file in Windows\inf. This added in lots of missing functionality.ta

bludgard
Read the post again genius. I cannot believe that you would attack someone who offered a bit of advice in an attept to aid in your misfortune. How very unfortunate you truly are, spooky. I am sincerely sorry you were kicked around as a kid as if you were a dog. Seek some professional help. A computer support forum is not your platform from which to shine.

MANEMAN
Apparently this mild rebuke makes me a "extremely unpleasant character". Nah ! I'm not havin' that !!!!!No way you're taking my title sunshine. You are a complete no-brainer who does not have the intellectual capacity to insult people to the level and high standard of insult that I have brought to this forum over the past few years. You obviously (Obvious to me anyway) Have Begged, borrowed or stolen a computer from the GPO (General Post Office established 1660 for overseas visitors to the forum - The little twat missed that bit out !) and are trying to circumnavigate certain security "Thingies" that they have put on. - That is illegal. That would make you an "extremely unpleasant character".If that is not the case, apologies, - but if that is the case, it is purely your own fault and oversight for not having explained the full case history of your problem in your primary post. (If you aint got the brain, - you really shouldn't join the train.)Let it now be stated that on this forum that you are not an "extremely unpleasant character", but just another one of lifes "Losers" who never quite figured out how to use a search engine such as "Google" or circumnavigate security programs put on legitimately by Governments or private companies.(Andsome is getting older and was a bit upset about cats and stuff at the time. :( Hmmm......... well... - S*** happens !)Accept the apologies please.Carry on posting and contributing as not an "extremely unpleasant character", but as just "Another Bloody Loser in life" Hope that you enjoy both the irony and humour in this post, and you will stick around and post some other stuff that once again you think and know is completely irrelevant to mainstream home computing. :) Now that's how a proper insult should be done.  "Listen and learn my dear" - "Alf Garnett" John. spoovy
I know web forums are prone to creating hysterical overreactions but really, this is bizarre by any standards.I suggest you all read this thread back in a week or so, when you've all calmed down a bit. Then take a long hard look in the mirror.Turaa.
