miseryguts
How do i find out which of the processes (70) that are constantly running on my system are vital and which aren't & can be disabled until they are needed & how do you save the settings..? Thanks.
-pops-
My advice is to leave things alone. I've seen a number of computers rendered all but useless by injudicious tweaking of parts which the tweaker doesn't understand. If you think these processes are slowing the operations of the machine, it is far safer to install more RAM if you can. OK, it costs but the cost is much less than resurrecting an otherwise defunct machine. If you really want to do this, doubly ensure you have a full system backup before you start. Alan2273
As pops says disabling processes can brick your computer but if you want to have a look at what is running and what it does try this free program. />http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653
Belatucadrus
If you still want to find out what's running you could try looking them up at ProcessLibrary .One way of disabling them for trial purposes rather than deleting them is through the Tools/Startup section of CCleaner
Makcalable
Are you talking about processes or services? As for processes that is basically down to what you have installed and running on your computer mainly with a few other exceptions that should be touched. Now for Service you really need to be careful what to disable, you check out this site here and show a good few services that are safe to disable - http://www.marksanborn.net/howto/turn-off-unnecessary-windows-services/ Again if you are that worried that you may have things running that shouldn't be there then I suggest a Malware/Virus scan, you can fin the link in one of your other threads which I left for you there. Man you have quite a few issues going on don't you, is this the same machine?
