This Season of Mellow Fruitfulness

Should be fruitlessness.

I have a Mirabelle plum tree which is normally laden with fruit such that there are several centimetres of fallen fruit around the tree at this time on the year. This year, despite a normal flowering, there are about five fruits on the whole tree and they won't ripen.

We have a damson tree which has formerly been totally laden with fruit - virtually devoid this year :(

There is a damson tree just down the road from here with a normal crop. The dog came home the other day with dark red feet from walking in the fallen, fermenting fruits.

(For the first time, I've seen damsons on sale in a supermarket (Waitrose)

The reason for bad fruit this Year has been because of the Bee's being unable to leave their hives because of the Weather. There was a programme on the telly about it.

I have two apple trees and the yield has been pathetic this year.
