laserface
This has now become the most annoying issue. For the third time I have tried to use your backup tool to backup my hard drive. I have two 1Terrabyte hard drives. The C drive I just filled with about 700MB. The second 1 Terrabyte drive is empty. So, I tell the tool to backup the drive, including a image disc. I know this is going to take more than 700MB of space. The backup utility just starts going, as if everything is going to work. It does not do any calculations first. In order for me to find out if the backup will work, I have to run it over night. Therefore, When I wake up the next day, I always find a message saying, "Your hard drive does not have enough space."Why doesn't your backup tool make the calculation first, and then decide to make the backup or not? Why do I have to wait all night? Has nobody else been frustrated with this?Is this fixed in Windows 8? Backing up a hard drive is important, and Windows fails every time. I always have to search for another backup utility to manage my backups, because your tool is just really bad. I don't want to pay for an OS that can't even figure out how to backup my drive correctly.
MANEMAN
Hi there, as far as I know nobody here works for Microsoft, and this forum has nothing to do with Microsoft. You meant to send your post to Microsoft maybe ?Most of us on this forum use "Acronis" because the offerings of Microsoft on their operating systems leaves a lot to be desired. Here are a few links that may help you to decide on your backup strategy for the future:http://forums.thereg...ndows_7_backup/ ( Comment on W7 Backup)http://howto.cnet.co...in-disk-imager/http://blog.superuse...up-and-restore/http://www.techbirdy...ning-softwares/http://www.techsuppo...ing-program.htmhttp://disk-imaging-...tenreviews.com/John. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I don't know anybody who is using Windows Backup; it is simply unreliable.Acronis True Image (Home) is the best way to handle your backups.

laserface
Why would I be confused about this being a Microsoft Forum? Maybe because it's called "Windows Client OS Support: For assistance with all Microsoft Windows client operating systems, such as 95, 98, ME, XP Vista and 7."Perhaps you should name it something different? JiniOnline
Yes, I agree. When you try to backup Windows 1st time, It takes lots of time and It may fail also. But, It doesn't mean that it is worthless. You should calculate the space needed for backup before.hihihihihihihihihihihihi
MANEMAN
Thank you for your reply. Why would I be confused about this being a Microsoft Forum? I really don't know the answer to that question. Not knowing you at all, I am quite unaware of what does, or does not confuse you, - but confused you are still it seems, and under the impression somehow that this truly is a "Microsoft Forum"The "Windows Forum" is made up of people not unlike me, the other posters in this thread, and yourself who give up their time voluntarily, and in a non-profit making manner to try to help each other with their Windows operating systems and computer faults. For the third time I have tried to use "your" backup tool to backup my hard drive. - Why doesn't "your" backup tool make the calculation first. - I always have to search for another backup utility to manage my backups, because "your" tool is just really bad. It is not our backup tool. We are merely here voluntarily as individuals from many walks of life, "For assistance with all Microsoft Windows client operating systems."Forum Guidelines:10) If you have an issue concerning our services, policies, or staff, please use a personal contact method such as a private message or email to a staff member. bludgard
..., I always find a message saying, "Your hard drive does not have enough space."Why not keep current images only on the "back-up" drive? One image @ 700 GB on the "back-up" drive leaves little room for continuous back-ups. And Windows back-up prog does not delete previous back-ups when the drive is full (this must be done manually).Acronis can be configured pretty mutch at will and is reliable. I have used it (Acronis - and still use it manually on the wifes machine), but I myself use Windows to create disk images; it works for me.There are literally scads of progs out there to create back-ups; why keep riding a dead horse and coming here to whoop-up on us?
