To start the ball rolling

The Last Torpedo Flyers By Arthur Aldridge and Mark Ryan

As a member of a class of wannabe Bart Simpsons that Mr Aldridge tried to teach French to, more years ago than I care to remember, my humblest apologies. I have no doubt we were a complete pain in the arse to a man who deserved so much better than we had to offer.

I don't think my choices would be very attractive to you, Belatucadrus.

I enjoy various themes (it all depends on my mood when looking for a book):

  • Saga-type collections.

  • Historical novels based on fact - I particularly like the Tudor period.

  • The usual chick-lit.

As in Mantel ?

I've not actually read any of her books, but I have read Jean Plaidy and Philippa Gregory.

One of my favourites is Diana Gabaldon. I thoroughly enjoyed her Outlander series.

Many years ago I was completely absorbed in The Jalna Series by Mazo De La Roche.

One of the chick-lit authors I like is Tasmina Perry.
