New Windows Forum Website

I'm using Windows 8.1 & IE 11 & I can't access this website with the new format.

Am I the only one?

To post this I have changed to F.Fox but why can't I use IE?

No replies, does this signify nobody else is having a problem using IE 11 to view this forum?

I can log on using IE11 with windows 10.

 

If I do - some of the forum features don't work properly - so I normally use Firefox

Thanks for replies.

I've just managed to log in using IE 11 & Win 8.1, but came to do this reply & it "locked up".

Think there are a few problems that need sorting.

Is somebody in touch with the web site builder & is he/she aware of the IE lock up problem?

Johnoo, Craig looks after the admin side of things.  He has been out of the UK for some time, but is due back today and hopefully back online with us from tomorrow.

However, I doubt that your PC lock-up would be as a result of the forum website.  I am not aware of anyone else with that problem.

Strange because I'm not getting the problem on any other sites. Would you please ask Craig to take a quick look?

I'll certainly mention it to him.  How many times has it happened and does it only occur when you are posting a reply?  If so, does it only happen when you are quoting from another post?

He already has a number of site issues to address, but in the meantime perhaps you could continue to use Firefox.

I have just seen this thread and I too cannot log on from IE 11. Using Windows 7 Home Premium.

Always use Firefox and never had a problem with it.

Mind dont use IE 11 due to problems arising mainly that I am always closing the browser when only thiniing tab etc annoying this format they use these days. Since IE 8 havent liked it at all thats when it started to deviate off trying to compete - failed   Windows couldnt resolve issue but tried.

Does what I want ok on my I pad. I don't use the computer much these days, I cannot upgrade to Windows 10 with my current graphics card.

I didnt even want it as a gift Windows 10 that is - and seems not alone. Well who wants their every move reported back to M$ who say wont use data - ha ha - then why collect it.

 

Apart from that it stinks - cant have any program they dont approve on their OS.

Nah I smell a rat and its a really large  one too.

 

And they rely on people saying "Oh well I've nothing to hide so why worry"

Like I do but this is a step too far.

 

No such thing as a free lunch. 

 

Why give away  millions makes no sense unless there is a larger goal and a huge pot of gold that out rates selling this new OS.

From July 28th Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 7. You would be wise to upgrade now and get the benefits of a more secure system.

There are settings in Windows 10 that enable you prevent your every move from being reported back to Microsoft. The media are scaremongering needlessly.  There is an on/off switch built into every security, reporting and advertising element in Windows 10.

 

For example - to prevent Microsoft from :-

 

Recording  and analysing how you write :-

Click Start > settings > Privacy > then switch off "Send Microsoft info etc"

 

Analysing your PC and the way you use it :-

Click Start > settings > Privacy > Feedback & diagnostics - select "Never" under "Feedback Frequency"

 

There are similar settings for a variety of Privacy and Security options.

 

 

Microsoft have also announced that they will stop supporting all versions Of Internet Explorer on January 12th other than version 11 which will continue to be supported. However - Explorer 11 will not work on an XP or Vista machine.

Users of these old Windows versions are advised to use another browser like Firefox. The Anti Virus and Anti Malware industry are expecting the 124 million users of IE10 and older to be at serious risk from Jan 12th because hackers and other scumbags are expected to go all out to exploit this situation and infect computers with unsupported browsers with malware.

 

So my message to Lamb Chop is to upgrade to IE11 immediately and upgrade to Windows 10 before July 28th. You have been the victim of false representation and anti-Microsoft scare mongerers. There are now millions of people like me very happy with Windows 10.  It's like any other aspect of life - you need to use it correctly to derive the intrinsic benefits.

Well,sorry,  I dont believe that at all.  You didn't give link to where you got this info. And a search only found confirmation of 7 being supoported to 2020 as I had stated.  No change.

 

Windows 7 supported until January 20 2020. Yeah right some put off on way it is said. But means safe until 2020.

and then there is this article where a Microsoft Exec actually makes a right fool of himself and anyone else who believes the guff they are pushing for some reason.  Seems resistance to W 10 is growing. And if they did say ending this July have reversed it but googling and looking around M$ cant see it - so taken down maybe or you got it off another site that fell for such gossip.

Seems that the uptake for pc desk tops is the lower than they estimated.

 

And then suddenly after I had problems finding a pack for Windows 7 only a couple of years back and saying not more issued, due to Windows 8 being out.  Now there are many Windows  7 packs for sale all over and the prices asked - show that something is afoot.

 

 

So no thanks for the lecture. But I'm sticking with common sense. Anyone who openly says yes we data mine but wont use it and then as I have found on my husbands laptop, which I am having to buy a W7 disc for it and pay heaps too, you cant turn off the privacy.

And cant do a lot of things that were the choice of the person who bought the right to use a OS in first place.

 

See that is what you get if free. You dont own it.

You're being given free use of it - but they retain the rights to do as they wish and they are going too do it too.

 

Maybe they have underestimated how many would jump at the idea of a freebie.

 

And anyway the free support for W7 is only cut off to those who wont pay to get it fixed. They are still taking business calls for repairs on XP and will continue a bit longer and will do same well past 2020 for Windows 7.
