AlanHo
We enjoyed a strange sunset this evening. We had gale force winds and clouds all day – but whilst the wind remained, the clouds cleared away as dusk arrived to expose an iridescent sky with patches of rainbow coloured misty clouds. The first two pictures were taken on my camera and the third one taken 30 minutes later using my phone when the patches of iridescence were vividly bright and full of the rainbow colours. Unfortunately, the phone could not cope with the contrast and the colours have been washed out. I have never seen anything like it before – it is what I imagine a mini version of the northern lights might resemble.

Belatucadrus
Apparently caused by ice crystals in the clouds.
