A Pleasant Winter Walk

It was a pleasant but cloudy day yesterday and we decided to visit Charlecote Park for a good walk around the grounds and gardens. We have been there a couple of times before so didn’t go into the house.  We strolled around the estate grounds for a couple of hours – it was very pleasant and so peaceful when the private planes from Wellesbourne airfield were not buzzing overhead.

Charlecote is located between Stratford Upon Avon and Wellesbourne which is a 20 mile drive from home.

There were signs up warning people not to go near the deer because it is the rutting season. Which – to Libby’s chagrin - I ignored and got a couple of photos of them at rest.

The photos are panoramas taken with my Samsung A3 mobile in rather dull conditions. But not too bad nevertheless.

Try Calke Abbey. It has been left more or less the same ad The national Trust found it, an absolute mess, this is deliberately  and you will soon see why. The attraction for us is the walled garden, one of the best.  You need to see it about three or four times at different times of the year.
