AlanHo
"WHAT HAPPENED TO ME?” I used to think I was just a normal person, but I was born white, which now, whether I like it or not, makes me a racist.I am a fiscal and moral conservative, which by today's standards, makes me a fascist.I am heterosexual, which now makes me a homophobe.I am non-union, which makes me a traitor to the working class and an ally of big business.I was christened by my parents (who were married, in a church and remained married until death did them part), which now labels me as an infidel.I think and I reason, therefore I cast doubt on much of which the main stream media tells me, which must make me a reactionary.I am proud of my heritage which makes me a xenophobe.I value my safety and that of my family and I appreciate the police and the legal system, which makes me a right-wing extremist.I believe in hard work, fair play, and fair compensation according to each individual's merits, which today makes me an anti-socialist.I believe in the defence and protection of the Country for and by all citizens and I honour those who served in the Armed Forces, which now makes me a right wing-militant. I believe in Brexit which brands me as uncaring and ignorant Please help me come to terms with the new me… because I'm just not sure who the hell I am anymore! I would like to thank all my friends for sticking with me through these seemingly abrupt, new found changesin my life and my thinking. I just can't imagine or understand what's happened to me so quickly! Funny but it’s all just taken place over the last 10 years! Finally, as if all this nonsense wasn’t enough to deal with now, with all this PC stuff about gender alignment, I’m not even sure which lavatory to go into.............. The problem lies in the coming of age of the Blair generation a bunch of self flagellating ne'er do wells who have reached voting age convinced that they are righteous and good and everything that they don't like is evil and should be banned. They whole heartedly support free speech but only for people with the same views as them. Contrary views are as you've stated phobic fascistic etc and must be banned for everybody nices well being. Fortunately they're all a bunch of wussy snowflakes and when finally confronted by what I will refer to as "Real Life" will melt turning into only a sad memory. Give it a few more years and they will all have faded away.
catgate
I fear your desire for a "Real Life" will never arrive until all the politicians (of all parties ) are wiped out of our government. They are all self seeking parasites. They camouflage their greed and powerlust as "working for the people" . Those in power pretend that three parties can cover all the views on how we should be controlled and for what purpose. Unhappily the lower echelons can, and are, being ruled in each party, by those that have "bought" their way to the top by a variety of means. What is needed is the rebuilding of our system of government. There are sundry ways of removing our present system ( many of which would not be acceptable in this country. ) According to Roget's Thesaurus "Politics" are nothing other than Cunning, Craftiness, Artificiality, Manoeuvering, Circumvention, Sharp practice, Knavery, Duplicity, Etc Etc. Here endeth the fourth lesson
Belatucadrus
Politicians have rarely had anything to do with Real life, most of them have assiduously avoided it having studied politics then gone straight into it as a career choice. Many of them on loosing their seats are forced into real life and the shock makes them shrivel up rather like a slug covered in salt. Some unfortunately end up as executive directors for companies whose board members want knighthoods and aren't above kissing arse to get them.
