-pops-
Very simple and very nice. About 250g mashed potato - I cook the potato whole in the microwave. About 125g plain flour 1 teaspoon of baking powder 1 tablespoon of cooking oil Sufficient water to form a thick dough. Salt & pepper to season. Add cheese of herbs or other suitable flavours to your taste. Mix all ingredients together, form into four or six flat cakes and shallow fry in a little fat until brown and cooked through. Gandalph
Sounds quite nice pops. I may well have a go with that recipe.
-pops-
It's very flexible - hence the approximations. You just need half as much flour as spud. Baking powder is not essential but does make for a lighter cake.
AlanHo
I too will be trying that - it reminds me of my childhood "bubble and squeak".
andsome
I'll have a go too.
AlanHo
Is my memory playing tricks - or in the distant past did andsome really claim to be the Forum's master chef. Pops now deserves that title.
andsome
I never claimed it, I was appointed for some reason. Pops is welcome to the job.

I don't recall you denying it at the time. Your tiger roll with lashings of onion and crushed elephant slices was legendary.
andsome
Why deny it, I always had more time then. ‘Er indoors hands were not so bad then.
