artist
Then there's that download site that Moon put on for Pops yesterday (???) No time to look just now - MOON - what was it??? :lol:PS This is a really good idea!! Bit like 'you know who's' Tips and Tricks.
moon
It was this but there are hundreds of sites like that. If the CD is going to concentrate on essentials, that is, apps. that Windows doesn't contain and yet keep peeps up and running smoothly I'd recommend Startup Monitor and OE Quick Tools. Both are extremely small, use negligable resources and are free. Of course, you might find it difficult to obtain permissions for any apps. that depend on site visits to generate custom for paid versions or apps. that entice to try shareware etc. If so, then you could sort them out and keep your 'Essential Freeware' list pinned as you do now. Don't you ?
Chris
WE now have AVG ;)If so, then you could sort them out and keep your 'Essential Freeware' list pinned as you do now. Don't you ? - eh?
djohn
Just thought of another one!makashorterlink . com without the spaces. Gives a link to those long M$S knowledge base sites. The ones that don't work in the normal way. ;)

cocoon
Forgive me if this seems like a stupid question, after all, I am a newbie! When you have compiled this CD, which apparently will be full of stuff that is available for anyone to download individually (I doubt if anyone will require the complete lot). What are you actually going to do with it? Guest nellie2
Well the idea is to send it out to Forum members who wish to have it... free, all they will pay for is postage and packing.Yes these applications are free to download if you know where to go.... what we are trying to do is take the strain out of looking for your free downloads and also there are some people who still don't have broadband so some of the larger downloads are just not practical. cocoon
Yes, I can see your point about dial ups and large downloads, but surely, if the source of the essentials is being supplied mainly by forum members they will already have them installed by now. Guest Grim Reaper
true cocoon, but don't forget that many people format and reformat their machine on a regular basis. Would you prefer to have all the good utilities on one easy to use disk or have to download them all again?
cocoon
Yeah, I s'pose you could be right.
