LOL ! :D

C'mon, I need the info. It's like the M$ helpdesk in here. :D I've been doing this since 8am while you lot have been swanning about.

they expect people with a little knowledge of computers to be installing not some aussie from the outback

If I were selling a tube of green paint it would say on the outside ' Grasp cap and turn anticlockwise to open. Squeeze to eject paint. ' When you'd taken the cap off you'd see green paint , not another tube inside with contents unknown and no instructions. :D

JBOH = Just Bunch of Hard Drives (thanks ellas for that one)

CPU Rises 5deg every half an hour....sure thats not your brain temp as you get closer to finishing?!?!?! - seriously, thats not right, did you use the thermal pad?

20gb sounds plenty for the OS.....you should have already set up the array settings....you said earlier in the thread that it was done!!

Well, there was just a screen with 'Select RAID type' and I selected ' Mirrored' However, there appears to be another facility just for 'Arrays' but I'm beginning to feel that it's for IDe arrays and not my SATA. My boot screen lists my two drives as mirrored so shall I go ahead with the partition ?

I owe you one. ellas. :D

EDIT. CPU seems stable at 55. I was just trying to get some emergency service in here. B)

please leave your penchant for firemen at your door moonmin......

and as for giving ellas one....well thats between you and him and not the rest of us!

As you appear to have the drives mirrored, i would go ahead with the partition and see what happens.

That's bloody discrimination ! :D

Partitioned ( one 20Gig) but halted. ' Could not read from the selected boot disc'

I assume that it's looking at the SATA drive with nothing on it yet. Do I go back into the BIOS and set it to 'CD-ROM' ? Or shall I go tend my flock with a couple of cold tinnies ? :D

as the reaper says just a bunch of harddrive the one disadvantage of mirrored is if one drive fails you lose the data on both drives this does not happen with JBOH so its more reliable.

boot from cd-rom (the round shiny thing with WINDOWS written on it)with your install disc inside the drive (the tray bit that comes out when you press the button and looks like a drink holder).

Ensure that your first boot device is set to CD-ROM and the second device is set to RAID.

Good luck bruce!

It must have just been looking at the Setup files necessary to get me to the 'S' prompt. The message is therefore misleading and guaranteed to freak out us muttonheads. :D

I did slip up though. I got 2K installed but realised halway that my mouse wasn't connected. I'm on Standard Eastern Time and my computer name is a number. :D

I'll have to go back and start over.
