Hmmm.

Ok, all set to default for the time being.

Now, I've got the latest chipset drivers on CD .  They post date the ones on the mobo CD.  What's the workaround for that ?  I'm just about to load the O/S/

dont install the ones on the mobo cd and do install the ones that you have downloaded....the latest drivers are generally the better ones!

Yep :D My mistake. I'm looking at the Si3112 manual now. I've copied the Si3112r drivers to floppy from the mobo CD. I've also copied two floppies from the mobo CD 'Diskettes' folder ( Disc 1 and Disc 2) but there's no bloody indication as to what they are.

I understand from the manual to press F6 as Windows boots. Is that right ? I assume that means as I am loading Windows and before it gets to the point where it tells me I've no HDD's. ?

i think that you are grasping there moonmin,

You need to start from the beginning again, recopy the drivers to the diskette, reset the bios functions and reload the drivers from there using the F6 key.

Here's the mobo manual and the RAID manual. If you look at (2) in the Silicon Image manual you'll see the directions for installing the Si3112r raid drivers to floppy from the mobo disc. That's what I've done, but that disc is NOT acceptable at the 'S' point. It would be acceptable via F bloody 6 but it won't stop.

I've set the mobo to default, Grim, recopied the driver floppy as instructed above but it won't halt on F6.

LOL ! My brain would fit through the doughnut ring. :D

Ok, I've cracked it. How was I to know the bloody thing couldn't open a folder ? :D

What's more , it needs a folder within that folder and the bloody floppy won't take them both !! I'll be sticking a doughnut in the designer's ear of if paths ever cross.

OK, I'm in and up to the partition point . MH suggest 20Gig for the O/S and software and the remaining 100 for data. I'm open to suggestions but don't go away as my cpu temp rises 5 degrees every half hour :D
