I always use them in the machines I build which must be more than fifty by now - some of them having multiple drives. Always found them very reliable.How many have you used and how many failures have you had? It may be that you've just been unlucky as I've not heard of Maxtors being like this before. It shouldn't have cost anything more than your initial investment.Were they all of the same type/production batch/supplier? I have built 2 using these drives and they come with a three year warranty. And I have used Maxtor drives and never had a problem with them. kesser Posted December 30, 2003 Report Share Posted December 30, 2003 We use a lot of IBM drives - them & Seagate and find these two to be the most reliable - the worst were always the Fujitsu batch that clunk after a while and then fail, though I believe they only make drives for laptops now, still, beware if you have one and you hear that clunk!
