My Polo is currently in the garage having it's third pedal box, and is an XReg (2000 model) !! It IS a known problem (although from what I can make out, they haven't 'made' a new stronger pedal box), and I've got the last 2 done under parts warranty as they're well less than a year old (your parts are under warranty for a year, even if the 'new car' waranty has expired). Luckily my boyfriend's a mechanic, so knows all the ins and outs (and replaced the first one), otherwise each one would have cost me £400 to have replaced by VW !This time it's in a different VW garage to the (less than helpful) one I used previously, and I've said that if (or rather when) it happens again, we'll take it up with VW. ... like others, I bought a VW because they're supposed to be reliable......! Last week however I had a service and M.O.T., and reported a couple of problems. To put them right has cost me another £495 today.
