nellie2
I have a friend who just bought a computer and was instructed to load a program by typing "A:" and then the name of the program. My friend told me it would not work because his keyboard was no good. He said he couldn't type the "dot over dot thingie" and that every time he tried to type the "dot over dot thingie" he kept getting the "dot over comma thingie" no matter how careful he was to press only on the very top of the key. When I taught him about the shift key, he thought I was a genius. Some people shouldn't be allowed to own a computer. This wasn't me by the way......... I just found it but it really tickled me!!!!! :D

-pops-
I was asked once about a black bar that kept flashing on the screen whenever the person concerned was using certain programs. Sometimes it was a big black bar, sometimes it was small but once it started he couldn't get rid of it. I went to look at the offending machine and the black bar turned out to be the cursor.I explained that this was to indicate where on the screen was "active" etc. His reaction was "I don't give a fig what it is, get rid of it, it irritates me." Fig wasn't quite the word he used but, I gave up trying to help.

Sir Radfordin
Whilst amusing it is a bit surprising as I always thought that all keyboards be they computer or typewriter have always had a shift key for this purpose?? Perhaps this poor person had never used any form of type before?!Had a call recently from someone who had "pressed something and now the numbers didn't work"...ah the joys of num lock!
