On various pages, para. bottom right: there is an apostrophe in "dont" i.e. "don't".On the information page in paying By Credit Card: 1. The correct spelling is independent (no "a" in it, it's an "e"). 2. Check that your use of upper case (capitals) in your headings is as you want it to be. 3. Under the Cheque clearance header, you use the term "our bankers". This makes it appear that your bankers are slow whereas it is the banks of both parties that are slow. You are right about the photo's, they are the weak point, especially when enlarged. I don't honestly know just how much you can salvage from them. (If you mean that you are doing them up with a digital editor). If you plan to take them again with a digital camera, then that has to be better. Watch the lighting especially on the glassware. (particularly the china dog enlargements )Detail of the product will sell ....more ...It would be worth your while re-doing them, as you have spent time and care getting the rest of the site to look quality .. Tankus Posted March 24, 2004 Report Share Posted March 24, 2004 You've also got flash reflection in the glaze on the plates , you cannot see the detail..Possibly when re rephotograph them use bright lights at an angle to "light" them up so you will not need to us a direct flash ....andsome would probabley know more about this....... I didn't have time then to do it myself.I am gradually re taking them with a digital camera (could have saved myself a lot of scanning) but there is a mountain of stuff coming in all the time.I will sort out the typo's when I can. djohn Posted March 25, 2004 Report Share Posted March 25, 2004 No matter how steady your hand, when taking these type of photo's use a tripod or anything to rest the camera on. If you can, set you camera to a delayed setting, move away and keep still. Most camera's will have a 4 second delay setting on them.Natural light will be best but if you can't arrange this then try to defuse the flash with paper tissue over the flash lens. Bounce flash from a white sheet behind the camera will also work well if you have access to a separate flash gun.Digital cameras also have a "Fill flash" that you would normally use for highlighting the subject with the Sun behind them. Try using on that setting as well. :unsure:[Edit] Another method is to set up a tent from a white sheet around the object, this will give an even light without shadows. andsome Posted March 25, 2004 Report Share Posted March 25, 2004 Instead of taking a head on photo of a reflective surface, just take it at a slight angle, so that the flash will not rebound straight at the lens. The problem with MOST digital camera's is that they are not as versatile as a SLR camera. You can always mount the flash away from the camera on a SLR, this cannot be done of course with a small compact digital. (Why not fork out several thousand pounds for a SLR digital.) Will that do it?Believe it or not, when I did my national service as a photographer in the R.A.F., we used to muck about with pin hole cameras, and we got some quite good results. Obviously the smaller the pinhole the longer the exposure. We used to leave the box on the window ledge facing the runway. None of the planes taking off were recorded of course as that went by too quickly. Some exposures were well over an hour, if my memory serves me correctly, although most were probably less than half an hour. Bit tricky holding the camera in the hand of course.
