What sort of day did you have yesterday?

Just have to share my frustrations about the day I had yesterday

I went for my usual jog at 6.30am, strain my calf muscle 5 minutes into it.

Worked on a document in work for about 1.5 hours, then deleted it later thinking it was something else.

Decided I would go swimming to see if it would help loosen my calf muscle, going into the sports complex my hand got caught in part of the door taking a chunk out of my finger

Came out of the swimming, went to my car and noticed some :censored: had hit the front bumper cracking and breaking off a part of it.

Got home and discovered I had keys in my pocket from the work that they would need that evening, had to go back to work with them.

I'm putting ceramic tiles on a wooden floor in the upstairs bathroom, it's nails on the floor panels, so I have to put screws into the joists for extra rigidity, decide the best way of not hitting pipes/electrics is follow the row of nails (I don't have any electronic detector) yes, you've guessed it, second hole I drill goes through central heating water pipe, I get a jet (it's a pressurised system) of hot water in the face, pull away, jet of water hits newly painted ceiling, put my hands over water (doh!) slightly scald my hands, finally throw a large towel over the jet of water and open lowest radiator to release water and pressure.

And just to top it off wife falls out with me saying, "what did you do that for (as if I meant it!) after all the floor already has nails in it, why do you want to put screws in as well" try to explain, but she just wouldn't listen and goes in a huff.

Honestly I thought yesterday must have been the 13th, ah well, things can only be better today (I hope)

Ranger, I am so sorry that your better half didn't realise the importance of putting screws in. She will when the tiles stay on and don't come adrift.

I will say she should have been sympathetic, got you your slippers, sat you down and got you a big drink and soothed your poor stressed brow!! :(

ps... I'm not being sarky... I'm being deadly serious.... sometimes we just don't appreciate what our menfolk put themselves through to make our lives happy and comfortable!

Really sorry to hear of all your problems ranger :( Sometimes days do go like that. To save you any further grief I hope you are using the correct adhesive for the tiles, especially on a wood floor with heating pipes underneath?

The expansion/contraction of the wood [Even though screwed] will crack the joints and loosen the adhesive to the base of the tiles if you use the wrong adhesive. :(

Thanks Djohn I already have the correct adhesive and grout, the only problem now is the gaping hole in the floor where i have had to break through to repair the pipe, looks like another trip to the local DIY store.

Smiffy, if anyone was going to be hit by a hammer it was her for her attitude, and then this morning she gets up and says as if nothing happened, "oh well, these things happen" and carries on as if she never sai anything or went in a huff, GRRR woman

Apart from this the rest of the day was OK I presume.

Yes, I after the last incident and the resulting mop up etc. I decide the only safe thing to do the rest of the evening was sit in front of the TV and have a beer and another and another and another and so on until I fell asleep in a drunken stupor, I suppose every cloud has a silver lining :) :) :)
