Replacement for Aida32

Recommended Posts

AIDA32 has been top dog in the computer inventory and audit category for some time. But recently it was announced that all future development work on AIDA32 has ceased. :(

WinAudit is a tiny freeware utility that, according to the website, "performs an exhaustive audit of the hardware and software configuration of your computer. The audit report contains details on installed software, license information, peripherals, memory usage, processor model, network settings, etc." It's a nice product providing similar information as AIDA32 for a single PC, but it doesn't work over networks. However, the tiny size of the program, combined with the fact that it needs no installation, opens up the possibility of sending it to all PCs on the network for remote execution. Freeware, 112KB.

Interesting post nel.

Sorry - but I don't like it !

It seems slow to run ?

It didn't recognise my Lexmark 1150 as the default printer.

It restricts the original text report to 60k

The report has been truncated to 60,000 characters because of a possible limitation

in the operating system. To view this report in its entirety first save it, then

view the saved file in your browser, word processor, spreadsheet or other text viewer.

You get masses of stuff which isn't all that interesting - in a straight text listing - which you can save in a half dozen formats (but its still just a list)

It doesn't seem to look for motherboard details ?

Doesn't show SMART and drive details half as well as AIDA did.

I shall definitely continue to use the "real" AIDA32 replacement

- who purely coincidentally  have just

appointed Tamás Miklós  as CTO and Executive Vice President of Software Engineering Research & Development.
He was the man behind AIDA32.

See - http://www.lavalys.com/index.php?page=view&article=8 for details.

See my original thread for Everest and other options to replace AIDA32 ?
