So a few months ago I downloaded Windows Defender and Windows Defender offline onto the worst laptop ever (my laptop). I downloaded Windows Defender, and it told me that a virus was detected that could only be fixed by downloading Windows Defender Offline onto a USB. So I downloaded it to my USB and booted to it. Windows Defender Offline detected a "virus" and asked me if the program could remove it, and I said yes. When it removed it, I shut down the PC and rebooted. When I rebooted though, the Blue Screen of Death would come up for a split second after bootup, and the system rebooted. This happens all the time, and now the only way I can access this computer is through Safe Mode. In the past few months, I've been backing up all 100 GB or so of my files onto a cloud storage website. I'm finally done and ready to reset this computer to system default. The problem is, I don't know how to do that on Vista Safe Mode. Can anyone tell me how?

I'm running on a Windows Vista 32-bit and I just recently received the FBI Moneypak virus. I used Norton's Power Eraser to get rid of all potential virus files on my computer. Unfortunately, in doing this, I deleted an important file and now my computer won't turn on in anything but Safe Mode. The good news is that Power Eraser will let me restore any deleted files I want. I just don't know which ones are bad, and which are good. Here are the files: n (shell extension) 7ca835.exe (startup item) alin.exe (startup item) mseoah.exe (startup item) Thanks in advance!

Hello. This is my first forum post, I hope that I can make my problem as clear as possible! I still have a 2003 windows desktop. (yah I know....) but it's been a great computer. A few months ago it started "crashing" and an orange and green light appeared on the hard drive. Not blinking. The only way to "wake it up" was to unplug the computer or turn it off by holding down the power button. At first I thought it was going into some "hibernation" state. But I read a lot about hibernation for windows and nothing added up. Just recently my windows won't even turn on. It goes to the page where the safe mode feature is. I've tried all the modes you can run it in, but nothing works. Anyone got any ideas? Also, is there a way that I can copy all the memory from my hard drive onto an external hard drive through the boot menu? (since I can't go beyond that) I would appreciate anyone's help! Thanks! Shelby
