Craig
After reviewing some of the current forum feedback, the following will take place later on today (Friday 18th June). The current Elite Member Status will be reverted back to Respected Member. Elite Member status will be reserved for members who have (for example) contributed to Windows Forum in a substantial way. Also, to qualify for Respected Member status you will now be required to have 1000 posts instead of 750.Again, if a member contributes to the forum in one way or another that stands out from the rest, the admin and moderating team may put you into the Respected Member group prior to reaching 1000 posts. This action also happens in the reverse, so if we feel you don’t deserve respected member status, you may be put into the general member group.Craig. Andy-2004
thing is, people who fold can never be part of this,So, how about looking into the flags (like the pit) that go below the status?
andsome
All getting very complicated now.
christmascracker
Totally agree with that Craig.I for one certainly don't deserve the title of elite member even though I've made over 800 posts.

djohn
I agree too Craig. Well I would have to seeing I brought the subject up. Respect in the forum should be earned and not given just for a large number of smileys or two word comments to a thread.Respect can as you say be earned in many ways and elite is surely for those who stand out in some particular subject or being extremely knowledgeable in general on a number subjects. If I see the title respected at the bottom of my name then I would like to think that other forum members thought this way too. :)

-pops-
I'm thinking there is some over-concern with status which is hiding or overtaking the real point of the forum. It matters not one jot whether I am elite, respected or just a plain old misery, that isn't the reason I come here. Andy-2004
So, how about looking into the flags (like the pit) that go below the status?to be more pacific, somthing like thisthat goes, just above the warning bar

djohn
Hard for me to define artist. Of course I would consider you as a respected member, I respect you for your input to the forum and so do others. I also respect many other members of the forum not just for their knowledge but the manner in which they present themselves.Craig owns and runs this forum with help [A lot of help] from admin and moderators but it is the members themselves that make or break a forum. Most of us come into the forum and present a good image of ourselves and therefore the forum as a whole, I can and do recommend the forum to others because of this.As andsome says, there is nothing wrong with a bit of good humoured, lighthearted leg pulling or a well presented, hard fought debate. We all have opinions and should feel that we can express them without giving or receiving personal abuse, even if we are wrong.A good well reasoned debate can and often does change my original view on a subject. I have come to learn much about politics and important issues by reading others Ideas and thoughts on many subjects. So my opinion of respect [in the meaning of this forums title badges] is not confined just to those with knowledge but those that show respect to the forum, its members and all those that visit. Members that fall into this category can sit comfortable on the silver bar, those of us who haven't quite made it can work a little harder and when the admin see fit we too can have something to sit on. :)

catgate
What I think is nice about this matter/post is the way it takes a seasoned "BOF" to put the thing so precisely into perspective. Well said -pops- !I think Tankus' suggestion of Yapper may well be apposite in some cases.
