Big Elf Posted July 1, 2004 Report Share Posted July 1, 2004 I've got a temperature monitoring utility on my hard drives in my desktop PC and laptop. On the desktop the hard drive temps are now at 21oC and 28oC (both have a cooling fan fitted).The temp on my laptop drive is showing as 50oC but it rises to 60oC under load (virus scan/Adaware scan). That's the same as my desktop CPU under load. nellie2 Posted July 1, 2004 Report Share Posted July 1, 2004 I don't have a laptop so I couldn't compare, but if you think about it, there isn't much space inside a laptop for airflow.... so perhaps that is normal. I've been unable to find any detailed specs for the laptop (Sony Vaio PCG-FX405) so am a bit in the dark about it.I appreciate the sensors may not be too accurate but running the temperature utility on my desktop PC at least confirms that it reports the same temperatures as the utility supplied with the motherboard.I was hoping someone on here would be able to give me a clue what their laptop drive temperature is as a guide/reassurance. As my Pentium 2.6 runs at similar temps to the laptop drive I was a little concerned that a hard drive was reaching those temperatures.
