Defragmenter

Recommended Posts

Yep.

Diskeeper Lite is a disk defragmenter, that can be used as a short version introduction to the full-featured Diskeeper product. The full Diskeeper product is widely known to be the best solution for automated and reliable disk defragmentation - the Lite version uses the sme advanced technology, but can only analyze fragmentation levels and run manual defragmentation on a single disk volume at a time. If all you need is a top quality tool for manual defragmentation, then this free version is a great choice. Lite version does not work under Terminal Services.

If you like Diskeeper Lite, the paid for version is then so cheap, it's worth every penny. I never even need to think about defragging. Both hard drives are always at 100%. The program is in 'Set it and forget it' mode. It switches itself on and runs quietly in the background every time the tiniest bit of fragmentation occurs. I seem to remember that it costs less than a tenner. I tried another program recommended by Pops, I can't remember the name of it, but unfortunately it gave me problems.

Many thanks for all your replies. I'm going to visit the suggested sites and have a read through. I had heard that the ME defragmenter was good and that Disckeeper was also a good alternative. Once again thank you all for taking the time to respond. :)

Right it's Diskeeper I've decided on. I like the idea of it running in the background.

Pops, like andsome I couldn't get along with Perfect Disk either. It didn't seem very much, if any, faster than 98 SE's defrager.

Once again, thank you one and all. :)

Go into Set it & forget it, and do a boot time defrag now and then. You wouldn't believe how much faster the computer runs for a few days. Set it to scan disk first, you will see the option listed. Don't bother to tick 'Pause after defrag' or 'Summary file'
