Boris
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4392.htmlSpyBot-Search & Destroy 1.3 Final MUST be installed for this update to work properly. The DSO Exploit is a security gap in IE. Microsoft did already repair this, so if you have all Windows updates and patches installed, it will not be dangerous for your system. Spybot S&D will still find it, because it contains an invalid value. Spybot S&D just has to reset that value. Unfortunately, in the current version, it sets again an incorrect value, so it is found in the next scan. Please update your main program. Chris
I saw this on fileforum - a Beta Site :oSo this is 1.3.1 FINAL?What does TX signify?
Boris
TX ? Not sure - a direct download of it from MajorGeeks comes from Patrick Kolla's site.http://www.safer-networking.org/files/spybotsd131tx.exeMajorGeeks also check everything before posting it, so I assume it is no longer beta. Chris
I think this is the DSO exploit fix? A big one at that, as the size of the file 1.3MB whereas the previous version 1.3 was 4MB. Yeah i thinks thats it.
andsome
Just downloaded thanks. It installed on top of the previous program almost instantaneously. Running the first scan now.

djohn
Same as expertec. Never had DSO show up in any scans so not bothered to download the patch. Not sure why it happens to some and not to others.

Not sure why it happens to some and not to others. :unsure:This is a new version as far as I know and not a patch. There was a patch for DSO exploits, so even though they were not on our computers, Spybot created a false positive. This new program removes that glitch, but as far as i can see it is now the latest available version. I will stand correcting if I have Boo boo'd
-pops-
I think you're right, andsome. This new version is 1.3.1TX
djohn
Thanks ansome and -pops- :) I've just been having a read up on the DSO exploits, now things are a little clearer in my mind. [Emphasise "Little"].I was referring to the original patch in my post above when I said that I had not downloaded it, not to this new version of Spybot S&D. I've never seen any mention of DSO in all the scans I've done using version 1.3. Should I now update to the 1.3.1 TX version?

andsome
OK. Doing it now. Must remember to reboot after the install. :)The only reason we had to reboot was so as not to show a DSO exploit
nellie2
I was talking to some people from Spybot last night (as you do :ninja: ) and apparently Major Geeks have jumped the gun here. The DSO patch is not ready for release and should not be recommended yet.Just carry on explaining about the bug!
