Spider.exe

Recommended Posts

spider.exe is a trojan and can compromise your computer's security.

Someone more knowledgable than me will be along soon but, in the meantime, look on our Security pages and instal and run a squared (a²), Spybot S&D and Ad-aware.

By the way, Welcome to Windows Forum.

We hope you will visit often - not always with problems :)

There are experts on all sorts of computer aspects and problems here and it is very unusual for us not to be able to fix any problems that are thrown this way. Have a look around - we're a very friendly bunch

I have a unbreakable habit that is always to startup and playing this game whenever I use my computer for working, and it took me a lot of time wastefully! So I just wish to rid of it as soon as possible. How?

Why have Microsoft forced us of this unnecessary software?

May I have to use another OS? Because my question seems to be such a difficult problem! But I still hope of your helping...

Therapy?

Seriously, if it is the Windows game you are concerned about, be very careful in trying to remove it. Much mischief can be caused by unjudicious removal of components integral to the Windows O/S, even if they do seem to be just add-ons.

I don't know the consequences of removing this file and I'm not aware of anyone who has had a problem such that they want to remove it :(

I do know that removing, or trying to remove, other files which seem to be Windows add-ons such as Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, System Restore and others can result in a system that will not boot up due to essential files missing.

It would be far better for you to try and overcome this desire unless, of course, you want to risk wrecking your computer.

Hi

Goto Control Panel>

Add Remove Programs>

Add/Remove Windows Components (Button on the side)>

Highlight "Accsessories & Utilities",

then click Details Button,

then highlight "Games",

then click Details Button,

then un-tick the tick box next to Spider Solitaire,

It is 0.5 Mb in size

Click OK

Job Done

Good Luck

Tony

Ahh but now that you know how to delete the game you also know how to re-install it! If you want to go cold turkey (festive gag) then how about this..

1. Start / Run / Copy+Paste the next line into the RUN box and press enter:

notepad %SystemRoot%\Inf\Sysoc.inf

2. Scroll down until you find the line that reads: Games=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,games.inf,,7

Add the word 'HIDE' to the line so it now reads:

Games=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,games.inf,HIDE,7

After you have done the above type inf into run then find sysoc and right click it, select properties and security and deselect yourself from permissions.

The above will work but I dont advise you to do it. Infact.....please don't ;)
