nfadywin
I don’t know how it happened but I noticed one day that I have the time and the day of the week (Friday) in by taskbar (the day of the week written under the time). I am trying to get rid of only the day of the week. The taskbar is not locked and I tried to minimize it but the taskbar totally disappears when you do that. I went to date and time properties but it does not give you the option to disable only the day. It also looks like the other active programs icons in the taskbar are bigger. I am not sure if this is having an affect on my computer but it is annoying. Please help.
pwp
hi nfadywinbring your cursor down to the top edge of the taskbar when your cursor changes toa black double sided arrow left click and drag the task bar down towards the bottom edge and it will resize to just show the time. nellie2
What operating system do you have and have you installed any new software recently?
nfadywin
I have tried to resize the taskbar but if I move one level down, the taskbar will totally disappear. I am running xp pro service pack 1. Funny enough it is when I installed macromedia flask mx 2004 the day on the taskbar appeared, but how can that affect the time and date on the taskbar. Boris
You haven't by any chance had a try of Tclock ?http://www.buzzys.net/tclock.html
madboy33
nfadywinAs pwp has said, if you right click the task bar and then untick the lock, now hover above and pull the taskbar down "1 notch" this will then only show the time. Also ensure the "Auto Hide" is unchecked
djohn
Hello nfadywin. You can't remove just the day of the week and leave the time and date on show. There are two options.1) Slim task bar with time only showing.2) wide task bar with time > day > date showing. If you want to see the date from the slim taskbar, then hover your cursor over the time and a pop-up window will give the date. :)

rong
Go to control panel display, appearance, font size, and change it to normal.
dogandacomputer
I have the same problem. None of the steps here have corrected this. I am stumped ... never seen this before. This is a XP Pro (SP2) laptop, I am in the process of configuring 35 for training purposes and have come across one that has this in the taskbar and I can't seem to get rid of it. Taskbar is unlocked, if I shrink the taskbar it disappears. The font is set to normal. There does not seem to be some sort of third party software running this. All of the icons are just a tad bit larger as well ... any ideas?
djohn
Hello dogandacomputer. :)Normally we ask members to start their own topic rather than add to another one we are trying to help, but seeing as you have the exact same problem, its probably best to leave it here. Have you checked that the resolution is set correct for the laptops display though it should be if all the others are working fine? There is something different with the set-up of the one laptop, if we can pin that down we may have the answer for nfadywin.nfadywin. Your welcome. We will continue to try and find the answer to your problem.
nfadywin
My icons are also a bit larger. Its funny how something so little, which even does not affect the computer, can be so annoying. If you ever figure it out please do tell. dotjay
I've also had problems with this on WinXP SP2. Again, it happened after installing something, in this case, JAWS for Windows. Annoying isn't it?!I've found that changing the Windows XP theme will affect the time, but nothing else will. No settings in the Date/Time properties or anything like that. Even TweakUI doesn't have any options for this. If it's really bugging you, Go back to the clean Windows XP theme and redo your tweaks. You might also like to save your settings as a theme once you're done so that you can get back there if it happens again. There might also be a way to change this in the registry editor, but I can't find it at the moment. dotjay
Either that, or check out the following tool.http://www.rcis.co.za/dale/tclockex/It's quite good... even has a nifty calendar popup, but it doesn't look so good in the default Win XP theme.
