Facts are things to be played with. Depending how you present them they can "prove" both sides of opposing stories/allegations to be true.

Labour 356 Tories 197
...is a fact, but before you can make any sweeping statement about its significance you need to look at other facts, such as the fact that the 365 was generated by the lowest percentage of the vote on record. Just viewed as 356 and 197 one could asume nearly twice as many people voted Labour as voted Tory, but that is no where near the truth. In fact 65% of those who voted did not want Labour to win. You can not under any cicumstance say that the electorate voted in Toady B liar. In truth he does not have popular support.

As to how he achieved it, I suggest you have a look at my post, under the "Howard Resigns" topic, concerning politics. He and many of the Westminster ne'er do wells are solicitors and lawyers, well versed in taking FACTS and making them prove something which appears to prove their case, by spin.

the result is still a defeat for the Tories. The electorate did not believe that Howard or the Tories should run this country for the next 5 years.

This is fact not fiction.

You can not under any cicumstance say that the electorate voted in Toady B liar.

Who won the most seats? As any party ever had a 65% share of the vote? I think the answer will be no.

Of that there is no doubt, and quite deservedly. It was also a defeat for the Lib-Dems, also quite deservedly. More to the point is the FACT that it has been a defeat for true democracy, and a continuing defeat for the people of this country who should by now have wakened up to the realisation that POLITICS is not Government, and a new system needs instituting, by force of civil action if necessary.

But then, I suppose the lemmings will do it all again in another 4-5 years, because by then they will have been thrown some more scraps, and imitation tasty morsels, and will have gone back into their habitual state of torpor, and even when they do momentarily open an eye they can see no farther than the ends of their noses.
