doug Posted July 13, 2003 Author Report Share Posted July 13, 2003 It must have been your brother I had caught this morning. One of the 2 was a big one. Most of the others have been quite tiny. They weighed so little they have been able to nick the bait and scarper without tripping the trap. I've finished up adding a counter weight. Enjoy it while you can - cuz when you reach my age you will have to slow down a bit.Us old uns' couldn't jog nearly twelve miles and have enough energy left to catch eleven meeces (or is it one mouse eleven times) and still be able to type on the computer.I have spent some time today dead heading the flowers on our hanging baskets, and taking management for a drive around Warwickshire. I have just about enough strength left to stagger into the conservatory and sip a margarita with management whilst watching the garden birds on the feeders. It's about time that we had more appreciation of the wisdom, mature knowledge, extra intelligence, and in my case beauty and modesty, that age can bring. Of course you need strong specs, my sheer andsome good looks can cause glare in elderly eye sight. I have backed up doug's call for your veneration. doug Posted August 9, 2003 Author Report Share Posted August 9, 2003 Just had to do an update. Today was a red letter day did 13.75 miles this morning. According to the forecast it was supposed to start cool and misty. It wasn't it was very warm and humid. Anyway I thought I would try and do the distance. Managed to get up to the turn off towards Beamish Museum, 6.7 miles with frequent stops to take on copious (lots of it) quantities of water. The return journey I always use a slightly different route, hence the discrepancy in the total mileage. I have found that I cannot follow the recommended training routine of doing a medium distance every day I have to have a couple of days off after each run. I did try to do what they say and listen to my body but couldn't here a thing for the noise of all the creaks, groans, gurgles and pops. Still my routine seems to have worked for me so I'll stick to it for the next 5 weeks. 5 Weeks Tomorrow! If anyone still wants to sponsor me please PM me via the Forum. To refresh I'm running on behalf of the Regional Neurological Rehabilitation unit at Hunters Moor, Newcastle for what they have been able to do for my wife who has MS and all the other people they treat.Summary 13.75 miles, 2 hours 10 mins and 6 secs. 20,802 steps pounded and 1,354 calories lost to the wind.Regards one and all. Direct pledges from people I've personally mugged £88. The funny number comes from No.2 Daughter her has pledged the grand sum of £1 per mile. I'll have to get her to round it up as the distance is 13.1 miles.Must say since I had a 3 hour doze this pm and just come in from a very pleasant 3 mile stroll in the cool of the evening I don't feel too bad, in fact quite soporific.PS Yes it's always televised but I think it only goes out in the North East.
