Do you reckon it will finish as a penalty shoot out, or will they rerun it until they get a OUI?

Even Andsome must have something good to say about the Frenchies after this.

I know he is accused of not having a good word for anybody, but I know he has a good word for the French. Sadly he would be banned from the Forum for life if he used it in a post.

This is the BEST thing that has ever come out of France. I admire all those who stood up against the bureaucrats. It is too late to scrap the Euro now, but at least it gives us yet another reason to stay out. Any talk of a re-run is typical of some of the bureaucrats and politicians running this gravy train. Far too many people have been lining their own pockets at tax payers expense for FAR too long. A typical example is the Welsh wind bag and his wife. Staunchly against the super state of Europe, until both were given £250,000 jobs. (I believe that that figure is about right). Before anyone posts to the effect that this or that scheme funded by the EU has greatly benefited their area, just think how low the cost would have been had the British tax payer funded that same scheme direct. Remember that for every £ spent here by the EU, the tax payer contributes £1.67. Don't lets us hear any nonsense either about Britain's £3 billion rebate. This was negotiated by Maggie Thatcher because we pay mush more than our fair share to the costs of all the bureaucracy and fraud as it is, and the figure stated above of £1.67 is AFTER this rebate has been taken into account.

I can happily say WELL DONE FROGS.

( Surely I won't be censored for using that term, I have NO objection to them calling us 'roast beefs'.)

'rost bifs' more likely. B)

My version was the English translation.

the Welsh wind bag

More racialist rubbish.

Racist ? maybe a little, more of a personal opinion than a racist comment, however.

Rubbish, Neil Kinnock is Welsh and proud of it and is also without doubt one of the most long winded, verbose people ever to enter the house of commons. So way too accurate to be rubbish.

OMG I'm defending an andsome post, where's the sickbag ?

Kinnock was commonly known in the media as The Welsh Windbag. No racialism intended. He was definitely Welsh and MOST definitely a windbag, as well as being as two faced as B'liar and Brown.

Staunchly against the super state of Europe, until both were given £250,000 jobs
and their son as well

don't forget his rabidness against the "toff's" in the other house ....what's he now ...Lord Blaenavon or summat ........

EU 's a dumping ground for inadequate politicos to have an even bigger feed at the trough ...

It must rank Blair that he's earning more !

I have not been able to decide whether the French have dumped it because they have seen sense or because they can see their hope for "leading" Europe would completely disappear if the Constitution were "ratified".

It has always seemed to me, however, that a nation that crapped into a hole in the ground was really too backward to lead anything.(But then I'm a bit racist!!)

I think it's a bit of both. Of course the French see themselves as leaders in Europe. They can see that far too much power has already been handed over to faceless wonder boys and girls in the commission. I think even for the French, the prospect of even greater powers for unelected civil servants is too much to swallow. Surely the tradition of democracy is for the people to elect a government to run the country. The civil service are there to run various aspects of the government machine, but the final say rests with parliament. In Europe all the Parliament does is to rubber stamp the decisions made by these faceless wonders. What idiot thought up a scheme of paying these ridiculous salaries to these mandarins in the first place? Europe was a wonderful ideal when first mooted. It was, as we all thought to be a common market, with completely free trade amongst its members. I don't think that any right minded person foresaw a super state run by the unelected, costing us billions every year.

Neither did we envisage all the rampant corruption, with these unelected wonders lining their own pockets to such an extent. We certainly never wanted all the silly rules and regulations, and prying into member countries affairs. Remember how German and Belgian commissioners did not want us to be allowed to call our chocolate chocolate, or our beer beer, because it was different to continental produce? The sooner we get right out of this silly club the better.

Correction: they are really lemons!

I don't think that any right minded person foresaw a super state run by the unelected

Correct: it was thought up by either wrong minded persons or else persons with none minded persons.

a common market, with completely free trade amongst its members

It could be a free trade area, as could the rest of the world, without being a member of anything, if it were not for the lemons (and the sour grapes).

Just how all these ego ridden politicians think they can run a "superstate", when not one of them can even run one small state honestly and successfully, leaves me aghast....then they talk about globalisation...!!!

My point was that it isn't the elected politicians that do most of the running. All that they do is to nod through all the daft things thought up by the unelected commission. All drawing totally obscene salaries, plus expenses, and paid for first class air travel. On top of all this, the whole charade has to be moved regularly between Brussels and Strasbourg, together with all the useless paperwork. What a stupid idea that is.

I suspect that it is necessary to have them moved regularly...like bowels (and you know what emanates therefrom!!)
