artist Posted August 14, 2005 Report Share Posted August 14, 2005 There has been a huge 'to-do' about IP ads being passed on without permission at PC pitstop.I hadn't noticed that most of ours are on show. I did a search on a few and found that it doesn't exactly point to where a person lives - just a general area.But the argument over there was that it would be easy to hack into these addresses. I've never told anyone here my IP address - two reasons - no idea what it is other than seeing it on here and I haven't been asked but, nevertheless, it appears on each of my posts.Just done a whois to check what information is available on my own address and find that I am on BT at BT central. Enables us to keep track of any dubious posters/spammers.There have been the occasional signature images here that show IP addies, these are made with javascript and show the readers IP address only.
