expertec
Like the title... it's kind of annoying me.It keeps doing stupid things like saying there's only 1 product in a category (when I know there are others) and pretty much everything I click on is either "discontinued" or "stock overdue".I'm supposed to be designing a PC... how can I do that if their :censored: website won't work? dagwoood
Expertec, I was trying to purchase a couple of items off Ebuyer yesterday, but when I tried to go to the checkout, it would either time-out or on a couple of occasions it said the site was shut for maintenance until 6.00am  .I just put it down to a problem with the server. Gandalph
One of my neighbours bought a second-hand computer, his first ever, two week's ago and he asked me to put a new hard drive into it and an OS, he wanted Windows XP Home edition so I set about hunting the best OEM deal down on the net. I came across the Ebuyer site and they had a version that was £48.00 if bought with a PS2 mouse. Great I thought so I printed the sheet off and took it around to my neighbours house to see what he thought of the price, he is 78 years young, he liked it, I went back onto their site couldn't find it. Cutting a long story short, when I phoned them about it and asked where the offer had gone they said it had never been on their website and had never existed. I told them about the print out I had on my desk with their header on the top and they told me I must be mistaken. :wallbash: :blahblah1:
-pops-
Similar experience to Gandalph. Some time ago when DVD writers were almost as rare as hen's teeth, Ebuyer web site told me they that a stock of over 400 Sony writers. I printed the sheet out, referred to my son (who was downstairs and it was he who wanted the item) went back to my machine and placed an order. In that few minutes, the stock had gone down from 400+ to "awaiting stock". Now, popular and busy as eBuyer may be, they can't possibly have sold that number on a Sunday afternoon in such a short time. This happened in the days when it was possible to phone eBuyer and speak to a "human being" so, allowing them their Sunday rest, I decided to phone the following day.Monaday morning, went to the eBuyer site and tried to raise the page I had seen the previous day - not a trace. I phoned and was told they had never had the item in stock and they claimed ignorance of what I was referring to. They also claimed the reference number wasn't coded in their system and I must have made a mistake. I then pointed out that I had made a printout of the page and their reaction - like that to Gandalph - was, again, that I'd made a mistake.I tried to obtain the name of the girl I was speaking to so I could send the evidence but that wasn't forthcoming so, I sent the printout anyway relating the saga and asked for an explanation. Several years later. I still wait.
expertec
Do you still shop with them?
-pops-
Do you still shop with them?Yes, because they do have good prices. This was the only occasion that I've had a problem and I did make a vow never to use them again at the time but, that's how things go. expertec
I though you might... I've not yet found anyone who can beat their prices. (If I do, I'll tell you about it)I've bought from them several times so far, with no problem at all. :)
Belatucadrus
I like their prices and fingers crossed have never had any delivery or product problems, but the website is as slow as any I've ever used, sometimes logging on to your account is near impossible with time-outs before the operations completed. I suspect that their server is severely overloaded and they're too cheap to cough up for the necessary upgrade. If Novatech get rid of Securicor and start using a decent carrier again I may go back to them, at least navigating their site isn't so damned irritating. catgate
Yesterday I was visiting a friend who lives just west of Skipton (Yorks dales). "Have you ever dealt with Ebuyer?", he asked. "No.".."Well don't", he replied. He then told me of his problem with them last week. He ordered a Cd drive, to mend his niece's computer. He ordered it mid morning on the Tuesday and paid the extra charge for next day delivery. It did not arrive on the Wednesday. So Thursday morning he rang them and asked where it was. They told him it was with the carrier. When he rang the carrier they told him that they had it and it had only been released to them over night "Wed/Thurs", and it was now on its way to their Preston office. He finished up having to travel to Preston late Thurday evening to pick it up so that he could mend the computer for his niece to take away with he on Friday. When he tried to complain he went through the usual endless routine of diembodied bimbos and numbered telephone options before finally coming to rest with a person of indeterminate nationality, in a country of unknow identity who just could not give a toss. Service is a dirty word
